Italiano dal parrucchiere ( Italian at the hairdresser):  Diamoci un taglio!  In English : Let’s drop it! Let’s cut to the chase

In Italiano questa può essere una espressione idiomatica ma anche esattamente quello che chiedete al parrucchiere quando volete tagliarvi i capelli . Ma andiamo un passo alla volta.

In Italian this can be an idiomatic expression as well as exactly what you say to your hairdresser when you wish to cut your hair short. But let’s go step by step.  

In italiano CAPELLI è usato al plurale o, qualche volta, al singolare , per indicare un singolo capello : non ha un capello fuori posto! (significa che non ha i capelli in disordine , o , in generale che ha un aspetto molto ordinato, quasi perfetto)

In Italian  CAPELLI (plural) is Hair  (one of the myriad quirks of the English language. In English , Hair, as a noun, is generally a non-countable noun, and it is used as singular to describe the total of the hair on the head) while, in Italian,  UN CAPELLO, is indicating one single hair : non ha un capello fuori posto! (meaning someone that doesn’t have a single messy hair , someone looking  perfect )

La parola viene da PARRUCCA ed “fare il parrucchiere” è una professione molto richiesta  ( sicuramente avete sentito parlare dell’importanza di FARE BELLA FIGURA per gli Italiani!). I travel a lot and, honestly, I find hard to match anywhere else the quality I find of a simple blow dry from any simple hairdresser in Italy.
