Chiacchiere con Chiara: Sono felicissima di avere questa conversazione con Alice Cheron che ringrazio per il suo tempo. Alice è la fondatrice di Ali di Firenze, un piattaforma che promuove lo stile di vita italiano e non solo.
Seguo Alice dal periodo della pandemia, quando ho iniziato ad usare Instagram durante il lockdown. 
La mia “Chiara’s Tuscany” era nata da poco e il covid aveva totalmente bloccato la mia attività…Mentre imparavo ad utilizzare Instagram ho scoperto Ali di Firenze e mi sono “innamorata” del suo entusiasmo. La sua maniera di comunicare l’Italian joie de vivre ricordava tanto quello che io cercavo di trasmettere ai miei studenti: lo stile di vita, ma, più che altro, l’entusiasmo per la vita e la capacità che gli italiani hanno di assaporare il momento. Così Alice mi ha ispirata a continuare anche durante la pandemia e… a non mollare!
Questa giovane donna è una splendida ambasciatrice dell’Italia in Francia e sono veramente interessata a conoscere la sua esperienza con la lingua italiana, che lei parla così bene.
(EN) I am delighted to have this conversation with Alice Cheron who I thank for her time. Alice is the founder of AlidiFirenze, alidifirenze.fr a platform that promotes Italian lifestyle and much more. I’ve been following Alice since the pandemic period, when I started using Instagram during lockdown. My “Chiara’s Tuscany” had just been born and Covid had totally blocked my business … While I was learning how to use Instagram, I discovered AlidiFirenze and I “fell in love” with her enthusiasm. Her way of communicating the Italian joie de vivre was so close to what I was trying to convey to my students: Italian lifestyle, but above all, the enthusiasm for life and the ability that Italians have to savor the moment. So Alice inspired me to continue even during the pandemic and… not to give up!
This young lady is a wonderful ambassador of Italy in France and I am really interested to hear about her experience with the Italian language, which she speaks so well.

Ciao Chiara ! Sono Alice Cheron, francese a Firenze da 12 anni. Sono sposata con Andrea, fiorentino DOC ed abbiamo 3 bambini. Ho creato una piattaforma che si chiama Ali di Firenze. C’è un sito web alidifirenze.fr che parla di tutti gli strumenti per vivere bene e meglio, basati sul mio quotidiano in Italia. Sono tutte le piccole cose che osservo dagli italiani da tutti questi anni ! Parliamo di viaggio, di cibo, di Slow Life, di godersi la vita. Il progetto principale si chiama “Les Fugues Italiennes”, sono viaggi di introspezione con me in Italia per 10 donne che non si conoscono. Per me è un progetto meraviglioso perché condivido tutte le cose stupende, la gente, i posti che mi hanno toccato il cuore. Per finire, abbiamo un piccolo e-shop che riprende tutti i nostri temi forti di contenuto (il risotto, la creatività, la ceramica colorata…)
(EN) Hi I am Alice Cheron, I’m French and I have been living in Florence for 12 years. I am married to Andrea, a true Florentine, and we have three children. I have created a platform called Ali di Firenze with its website alidifirenze.fr that is all about how to improve lifestyle and it is based on my Italian daily experiences. I put here all the little things that I have noticed and loved about Italians during these years! We talk about travels, Food, Slow Life, how to enjoy life. The main project is called “ Les Fugues Italiennes”; a particular type of travel dedicated to introspection, awareness, self-care that I lead with 10 women that don’t know each other. I think this is a wonderful project. Here I share with these women all the things I have experienced in Italy, the things that are dear to me, people I love, places that have touched my heart. Finally, we also have an e-shop connected with all the main themes that characterize my community (from creativity, to risotto, to pottery etc)
- Quali lingue parli e quando e come hai imparato l ‘italiano? Cosa trovi più difficile della lingua?/ How many languages do you speak and how did you learn Italian? What do you find most difficult about the language?
Il francese è la mia lingua madre. L’italiano e l’inglese li parlo entrambi molto bene e capisco lo spagnolo. Lo parlavo perfettamente dopo un scambio Erasmus ma adesso l’italiano mi rende lo spagnolo molto complicato !! Ho imparato l’italiano quando sono arrivata a Firenze. Non sapevo dire NIENTE tranne ciao e grazie ! Ho preso corsi intensivi, studiato tantissimo da sola (leggevo Topolino e facevo molto ricerca di vocabolario). Poi ho trovato italiani che volevano imparare il francese e abbiamo iniziato a bere birra la sera e a fare 30 minuti in francese, poi 30 minuti in italiano. Mi ha aiutato tantissimo per riuscire a passar colloqui. Poi ho iniziato a lavorare in italiano, è li dove ho fatto il grande miglioramento ! La cosa più difficile per me è stata iniziare a capire la radio italiana perché parlano ad una velocità pazzesca.
(EN) French is my mother tongue. I speak very well Italian and English and I understand Spanish. I used to speak Spanish very well after my Erasmus experience, but now, with the Italian language always present, I find it hard . I learnt Italian when I arrived in Florence. I didn’t know anything before, a part from ciao and grazie! I took some intensive courses, I studied a lot by myself, (I read cartoons, like Topolino, very popular in Italy, and I used my dictionary to do some research ). Then I met some Italians that wanted to practice their French and we started by sharing a beer together in the evening and 30 min in French and 30 min in Italian. This helped me a lot with job interviews and when I started working in Italy I spoke only in Italian and this is when my improvement was at its highest. The most difficult thing for me was to understand Italian radio because they talk at a supersonic speed!!
- Il mio “motto” è: “Chi parla più lingue vive più vite”. Quello che cerco di dire è che chi parla una nuova lingua ha l’occasione di vivere una vita nuova. Opportunità nuove, nuovi incontri ma non solo, …nella mia esperienza quando si parla un’altra lingua in un altro Paese, siamo davvero persone diverse. Come se la lingua differente tirasse fuori un’altra parte di noi. Non so se questo ti parla, se ti riconosci in questa mia idea…/ My motto “chi parla piùlingue ,vive più vite”: what I mean by it is that a new language gives the chance to live a new life. New opportunities, encounters but not only that…to me when we speak in another language it is as if we were able to bring out another part of ourselves, I don’t know if this make sense to you…
Adoro la tua idea e la trovo molto giusta. Quella che sono stata in Spagna, le relazioni rese possibili con la lingua sono esperienze di vita che si addizionano alla mia esperienza in Francia ed adesso in Italia. C’è veramente quest’idea di “mondo che si apre” e la chiave l’abbiamo tutti, basta aprire un libro, studiare e lanciarsi.
(EN) I love your idea and I find it to be right, The person I was during my time in Spain, the many relationships I had thanks to another language, all these are life experiences that add up and add to my life in France and now in Italy. It’s really the idea that the world opens up for us and we all can do that, the key is available to all of us: all we have to do is open a book , stud and start something new.
- Che impatto ha avuto parlare italiano nella tua vita? /What is the impact that the Italian language has had in your life?
Mi ha messo subito in contatto con un’ idea che è fondamentale per me e per la mia esperienza italiana: per voi italiani, la bellezza è il concetto più importante di tutto. Nella lingua, tutto quello che suona male, viene cambiato in modo da farla tornare meglio (suonare meglio) . Senza la bellezza, non state bene !
Poi un concetto più razionale : il fatto che parlo ai miei 3 bimbi 2 lingue è anche incredibile. Chi l’avrebbe mai detto !
(EN) It immediately put me in touch with a concept that has been fundamental in my Italian experience: the importance of the notion of Beauty that for you, Italians, is the most important concept of all. Even in your language anything that sounds “ugly” /“ bad” is regularly changed into something that sounds more harmonious , more “bello” , beautiful! Without beauty around you don’t feel happy!
Moreover, another important thing: I am now able to speak with my 3 children in two languages and this too is amazing!Who would have thought!
- Si può vivere a Firenze, secondo te, senza parlare italiano?/ Can one live in Florence without speaking Italian?
In Italia, non far lo sforzo di parlare la lingua vuol dire perdere l’occasione di essere in contatto con gli italiani. Per me l’Italia sono innanzitutto gli italiani, la loro personalità, la loro ricchezza, i loro valori. Ben più che i paesaggi o la pasta ! Che peccato non parlare anche solamente 2 parole ! La mia più grande gioia quando sono arrivata a Firenze, era questo macellaio che mi salutava sempre quando passavo in strada. è lui che mi ha fatto sentire a casa.
(EN) In Italy not trying to speak the language means wasting the chance to be in contact with Italians, and this, to me, is the most important part of this Country. To me Italy is overall its people, their personality, their values. Much more than panoramic views and pasta! What a pity just to be able to say 2 words! My greatest joy when I was in Florence, was the local butcher greeting me every day when I was passing by. He was able to make me feel at home!
- Come vivi da francese in Italia? Che rapporto ha la gente con te ? hai notato che gli italiani adorano l’accento francese ?/ How do you live in Italy as a French woman? What is the relationship that Italians have with you ? Have you noticed how Italians love to hear a French accent?
Da Francese in Italia, ho capito che ero io a dover adattarmi e non il contrario ! Odio i stranieri che vivono qui, approfittano di tante cose e criticano sempre il sistema. Fa parte dell’esperienza qui di esser paziente, di prender il tempo con un fornitore che ti offre un caffè, di dover guadagnare la fiducia del tuo falegname … è cosi ! Per l’accento, è vero, ho sempre complimenti e ha il suo fascino che mi ha aiutato tanto quando non sapevo parlare bene !
(EN) As a French woman in Italy I realized that I had to adapt to the country not vice versa! I hate foreigners living here that take advantage of many things while constantly criticizing the system. It is part of the whole experience: learning to be patient, taking the time with a service provider who is offering you a coffee, learning how to earn your carpenter’s trust..and so on! As for the accent, it is true, I always receive many compliments and it has its charm that helped me a lot when I wasn’t yet able to speak fluently.
- Raccontaci i tuoi progetti futuri./ Tell us about your future projects.
A marzo ho organizzato un evento a Parigi per ritrovare 110 donne che hanno viaggiato con noi per la Fuga. E’ stato un momento molto emozionante per me ed Emilie che lavora con me da 3 anni. Certe ragazze non le vedevamo dal 2019 ! è pazzesco aver la fiducia di tante donne. Ci saranno ancora altri eventi di questo tipo !
(EN) In March I have organized an event in Paris to meet 110 women that have been travelling with us for my trips, “Fugues”. For me and for Emilie, who has been working with me for 3 years, it was very moving. We hadn’t seen some of them since 2019! It’s wonderful to have the trust of so many women! We will organize more events like this one in future!
- Sai che io adoro le parole, ho una vera fissazione…Se tu dovessi scegliere una BELLA Parola italiana ? ( non so anche solo per il suono, per il significato…) /You know that I truly LOVE words, I have a real “fixation “…If you had to choose a beautiful Italian world ( I don’t know, it could be for its sound, or the meaning…) what would it be?

La nostra conversazione è stata breve ma intense. Alice era stra-impegnata come sempre e io non ho voluto rubarle troppo tempo ma avrei potuto continuare a chiacchierare con lei per delle ore! Anche se non parlate francese ( la sua piattaforma è dedicata ad una community francofona) date un’occhiata alle sue belle attività e i preziosi consigli di viaggio che non sono solo concentrati sulla Toscana ma, oramai spaziano in tutta Italia!
(EN) Our conversation was short but intense. Alice was super busy, as usual, so I didn’t want to take too much of her time but I could have continued chatting with her for hours! Even if you don’t speak French (her platform is dedicated to her French-speaking community) have a look at her beautiful activities and her precious travel tips that are not only concentrated in Tuscany but, by now they cover all of Italy!
